“I’m feeding” is the total number of diners, including you.

Try “halve it”, “increase by 25%”, or “+3 -1”. Relative changes use your current target.

Some recipes make
more than a meal.

Whatever’s on the menu, make a little room for the people who make it special.

Make your recipe fit your table

A PINCH OF COMMON SENSE

Recipes scale.
Cooking takes judgment.

The formula is simple: new servings ÷ original servings = your multiplier. For 4 to 7 servings, every recognized quantity is multiplied by 1.75.

When a recipe says “serves 3–4”, choose a baseline that matches your portion size. Using 4 for seven diners gives ×1.75; using 3 gives ×2⅓. We show the choice rather than hiding it.

01

Half an egg? Still an egg.

Beat it first, then measure the portion you need. We show the scaled quantity without rounding it to a whole egg.

02

Keep an eye on the clock.

A double batch doesn’t mean double the cooking time. Check your pan size and the recipe’s doneness cues.

03

“To taste” stays that way.

Amounts that aren’t specified stay unchanged. Unclear numbers get a review flag rather than a confident guess.

04

Same units. Clear ratios.

Grams stay grams; cups stay cups. We don’t guess ingredient weights from volume or change package sizes.

ONE LAST THING

Good questions.

A recipe converter should make dinner easier.

Is this recipe calculator really free?

Yes. Pasting, scaling, photo and document reading, PDF downloads and cook mode are free, with no account. Ads and partnerships may support the site in the future.

Can I upload a screenshot or Word document?

Yes. Use JPG, PNG or WebP for photos, or PDF, DOCX and TXT documents up to 10 MB. PDFs are limited to 8 pages. English printed text works best. Handwriting, columns and blurry photos can produce errors, so review the imported text before adjusting.

How do I double or halve a recipe?

Set the original servings and use Double or ½ recipe, or choose any target. Double makes a recipe for 4 feed 8; half makes it feed 2. The ingredient amounts change proportionally.

Will it change amounts inside the directions?

No. The ingredient list is adjusted; cooking directions remain exactly as provided. If a direction says “add 2 cups”, refer to the adjusted ingredient table. Temperature, time and equipment sizes remain unchanged.

Do you save or upload my recipes?

Recipe processing happens in your browser. Recipe text and uploaded file contents aren’t sent to our servers or saved by this tool. Import libraries and English OCR data are downloaded from third-party CDNs, which receive normal connection data such as IP address. Nothing persists after you close or refresh the page. See the privacy notice below.

Does it understand anything I type?

It understands common serving requests such as “feed seven”, “double it”, “halve it”, “add 2”, “reduce by 20%”, and “+3 -1”. It isn’t a general AI chat assistant. You can always enter the target serving count directly.
